Welcome to the website of Athanmas Golden Retrievers. Please feel to browse through the other pages in this site. We hope that you will find them both useful and amusing..

At Athanmas Golden Retrievers we aim to provide a friendly and loving family home environment for our dogs. Our intention has always been to ensure that our dogs, young and old, live a long, happy and healthy life. To that end we seek to ensure that both the dogs we welcome into our home, and the stud dogs we may use, have come from a background we ourselves would approve of and that they meet the health standards set down by the Kennel Club.

We currently have two dogs, Elsa and Sabah. Elsa was named after the lioness in Born Free; the name is Scandinavian and equates to the English forename Elizabeth. The name is quite appropriate in another context as her mother's name is Good Queen Bess (after Queen Elizabeth I). We tried to preserve the African connection of Born Free when we named our second dog. Sabah, in one of the African languages, means 'Born in the morning'.

Sabah, our cream coated Golden, was recently mated with Cooper (Muskan Make My Day). We are hoping that the mating was a success and that Sabah will be having her litter in August of this year (2009). Watch this space for further developments.

Elsa, who has a 'traditional' darker golden coat, had her first litter of puppies in June 2007. You can see pictures of Elsa's litter in the Puppy Gallery. From the age of 21 days we took a picture of each puppy every week and put them in the Puppy Gallery, so that you can see how much they changed over the following five weeks. We are hoping to have another litter from Elsa during the Spring of 2010.

If you would like to put your name down on the waiting list to be considered for one of Sabah's or Elsa's future litters then please follow this link to our Contacts Page.
